„It is everywhere“: Corruption STRENGTHENED in Serbia
A Member of the Council of Serbian Government for the Fight Against Corruption, Jelisaveta Vasilic, said that citizens who believed that the current Government would eradicate corruption were misled.
After Serbia received 38 out of an ideal 100 points according to the global ranking of Transparency Serbia for 2020, based on the perception of corruption in the public sector, she stated with Beta agency that the fight against corruption was a pre-election promise of the current government.
Such a result, as it was announced, is one point weaker than in 2019, and Serbia is on the 94th place out of 180 countries and has five points fewer than the global average score of 43 points.
Although the fight against corruption, as stated by Transparency Serbia, „has always been known as one of state priorities, Serbia’s evaluation is the worst in the last eight years.“
