Insajder: Building permit for CABLE-CAR on Kalemegdan revoked

The Administrative Court in Belgrade accepted the lawsuit of the Regulatory Institute for Renewable Energy and Environment (RERI) and annulled the decision of the Ministry of Construction on issuance of a construction permit for preparatory works for the construction of a cable car on a plot on the Kalemegdan, fortress, Insajder reports.

The Administrative Court annulled the decision of the Ministry from 2019 and returned it to the first-instance court for a new decision.

Also, as it is added in the court’s decision, the Ministry of Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure is obliged to reimburse the RERI Association for the costs of the administrative dispute in the amount of RSD 34,500.00, within 15 days from the day of receiving the verdict.

By the same decision, the Administrative Court rejected the request of the interested party in this procedure, the City of Belgrade respectively, to reimburse costs of the administrative dispute.

The controversy over the construction of the cable-car on Kalemegdan fortress has been going on for years, and its construction has been opposed by numerous professional associations since the very announcement.

Due to irregularities in the planning process of cable-car construction, Europa Nostra Serbia appealed to the Ministry of Culture and Information to initiate the procedure for repealing the Detailed Regulation Plan and adopt a temporary measure to postpone all works involving construction of a cable-car.
