Farmland for EUR 42,500: Here is where farmland is by far most expensive in Serbia

In the first half of this year, farmland accounted for 20 percent of total real estate trading. According to the data of the Republic Geodetic Authority, about 47,000 properties were acquired by new owners in Serbia during that period. As reported by the Dnevnik daily, the monetary value of the agricultural land market was about EUR 87.6 million, compared to the amount of EUR 72 million in the same period last year. Agricultural land reaches the highest prices in Backa, the Novi Sad-based newspaper reports. Maximum prices were recorded in Sirig and on Cenej. In Sirig, the amount of EUR 42,500 was paid for 1 are and 12 hectares of land, and on Cenej EUR 35,187 for 1 hectare and 35 ares. According to the data of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, the average price of agricultural land in the area of Western Backa in the first half of the year was EUR 8,350 per hectare. This is the average amount between the minimum and maximum prices for farmland in this area of Vojvodina. In the Northern Backa area, the average price of farmland was EUR 9,700. The highest price of agricultural land in that period was recorded in the Southern Backa area, amounting to EUR 9,950 per hectare. In the Northern Banat area, the average price was EUR 7,350 per hectare, and in the Central Banat area it was EUR 6,850. How high the prices of land in Vojvodina were in the observed period is best illustrated by the data of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia showing that a hectare of farmland in Sumadija and Western Serbia cost EUR 3,100 on average and in Southern and Eastern Serbia EUR 2,600 and in the Belgrade area EUR 3,850.
