Farmers to minister: Find a buyer for a million tons of wheat
The farmers from Stig have requested from Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Jelena Tanaskovic, to find a buyer for more than one million tons of wheat and to increase subsidies, said agricultural producer Nedeljko Savic.
After the farmers’ talks with Tanskovic, who came to Pozarevac at their invitation, he said that she had asked them to wait until April 4.
„Tanaskovic said that she was in contact with the Chinese ambassador to Serbia, with whom she was discussing the export of a million tons of wheat to that country and that we should wait until April 4,“ Savic said.
He added that agricultural producers would wait for a response and would postpone the protest, which, due to dissatisfaction with the state’s economic policy towards the sector, was announced for Friday, with the blockade of the Morava Bridge.
