“Falcon” rushes at 200 km/h again

Trains on the Belgrade – Novi Sad high-speed railway again run along the entire section at the designed speed, i.e. at a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour, in accordance with the timetable, said the railway infrastructure company Infrastruktura železnice Srbije.

As specified, this morning at 8.00 a.m., the contractors completed mechanical regulation of the track on the section of the high-speed railway between Beska and Karlovacki Vinogradi, thus completing all planned activities for ongoing maintenance, which provided conditions for the speed of trains to be restored from 160 to a maximum of 200 kilometres per hour, as designed by the timetable, the statement said.

It is recalled that on January 10, for preventive reasons, Infrastruktura zeleznica Srbije reduced the speed of trains from 200 to 160 kilometres per hour at two locations on the Belgrade – Novi Sad high-speed railway.

These were two-track sections of Stara Pazova – Indjija and Beska – Karlovacki vinogradi, where the speed of trains was reduced by 40 kilometres per hour, which made the high-speed railway journey between Belgrade and Novi Sad only three to five minutes longer.

Last week, the expert services of Infrastruktura železnice Srbije also replaced the stolen parts of the contact network above the railway line at two locations between Belgrade and Novi Sad.

Due to the theft of eight hard points of the contact network, Infrastruktura železnice Srbije was forced to introduce driving slower by 20 kilometres per hour on January 12 on the high-speed railway sections Indjija – Beska and Sremski Karlovci – Petrovaradin, instead of the projected speed of 200 kilometres per hour.
