European Commissioner: Roaming will be abolished when Serbia joins the EU
The European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel has stated that roaming for the region of Western Balkans will be abolished when countries of the region become members of the European Union, yet until then they will work on price decrease.
“Serbia and region need to become members of the EU and at that moment there will be no special prices of roaming. At the moment we are talking about price decrease of roaming service,” Gabriel has said at a press conference with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.
The European Commissioner has said that the plan is to decrease price of a megabyte in roaming to 70 cents by the summer of 2019, and to 20 cents by 2021.
“Now you often receive a message that the price is 14 euros,” Gabriel has said.
Commissioner has said that decrease in roaming prices is a priority of the Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans, because both citizens of the region as well as the economy will benefit from it.
