EU assistance of EUR 8 million to Serbia for Green Agenda

Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Emanuele Giaufret, has announced that eight million euros will be allocated for the implementation of the „Green Agenda in Serbia“ program within IPA 2020, in three phases.

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to the Republic of Serbia Emanuele Giaufret presented this initiative in order to encourage „green“ transformation of the economy and society.

According to Ambassador Giaufret, Serbia adopted the Green Agenda Declaration in October 2020 at the Conference in Sofia and committed itself to implementing its actions through the Regional Action Plan adopted at the summit in Slovenia in October 2021. The project „EU for the Green Agenda in Serbia – start, take action, expand“ will support Serbia in implementing the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans. Giaufret emphasized:

„This new project arrives at the right time, a few weeks after EU member states confirmed the opening of negotiations for the cluster that, among other things, covers energy issues and environmental protection. That gives us good motivation to expand our actions on all the fronts and do everything we can to implement EU legislation in this area in Serbia.“
