“Each city will reduce consumption by an average of 12 percent”

Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic has said that plans for reducing the consumption of electricity and thermal energy have so far been submitted by almost all local self-governments, which, on average, will save about 12 percent of energy according to these plans.

Responding to journalists’ questions after a meeting with the State Secretary of the Federal Ministry for Economy and Climate Protection of Germany, Franziska Brantner, and Germany’s special envoy for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, Mihajlovic said „there is still room for reducing public sector consumption, especially in public companies“.

„When we talk about public companies, their average savings are about five percent, and EPS gave the highest percentage of 3.2 percent.“

The ministries and other central state institutions have submitted a plan with an average percentage reduction of almost 15%. That is a good start, said Mihajlovic, as cited by the ministry.
