    Cuprija based company which creates products for IKEA increases capacities and the number of workers

    Cuprija based enterprise Standard furniture Serbia, the only one from Serbia that sells its products to Swedish company IKEA, will invest EUR1.2 million in the new production facility next year and employ 50 additional workers.

    The new hall will have about one thousand square meters and in addition to rolling pins, kitchen chopping boards and furniture feet it will also produce one more product from the IKEA assortment, “BEKVAM” step stools.

    IKEA will provide loan for half of the total new investment, CEO of Standard Miodrag Perovic has said.

    “We will return loan via goods, and IKEA is co-creditor in the business. Investment will be realized next year, after we build a facility and create a plan for hiring new employees. Investment comes from our own funds and there are no state subsidies,” Perovic has said.

    Standard currently employs 280 workers and fifty percent are women. It has been cooperating with IKEA for 14 years and products of Curpija based enterprise are available in 400 department stores of the Swedish company all over the world and they have “Made in Serbia” sign on them.

    Total turnover of the enterprise Standard with IKEA was EUR4.5 million last year and each year it increases by 10 percent.

    Standard’s predecessor was entrepreneurial shop Jasen-Lukic, with which IKEA began cooperation in 2004. In March 2011 Swiss company Daccomet became majority owner of Jasen-Lukic and it changed its name to Standard Furniture Serbia.
