Bridge on the Sava River near Ostruznica opened for traffic

Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic has announced that the bridge on the Sava River near Ostruznica was opened for traffic in full profile.

Goran Vesic points out that after the successful completion of the construction of a new bridge in the direction of the Belgrade bypass, Bubanj Potok–Dobanovci, conditions have been created for the rehabilitation of the old bridge that has been in operation for more than 15 years under heavy, continuous traffic in both directions.

„It was the only bypass over the Sava River for tens of thousands of drivers on a daily basis,“ Vesic wrote on Facebook.

„After the completion of construction in 1999, before it started being used for traffic, the bridge was destroyed in NATO aggression. The bridge was built again in 2005,“ Vesic said.

He added that complete rehabilitation of Ostruznica Bridge had been carried out in the last 15 months and that the value of the works amounted to about RSD 900 million.

The bridge was opened for traffic, and in the coming months, works on the lower profile of the bridge will continue, which is why the speed will be limited to 80 kilometers per hour, until the completion of all the works, Vesic pointed out, noting that the speed would be controlled by a camera with a radar.
