Belgrade dropped out of the race for the „Green Capital of Europe“
The European Commission’s Directorate General for Environmental Protection announced that Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, the capital of Estonia, Tallinn, as well as Polish Krakow and the Swedish City of Helsingborg, entered the finals of elections for the Green Capital of Europe for 2023.
Belgrade is thus no longer in the election for the green capital, and Dublin, the capital of Ireland, but also the capital of Poland, Warsaw, as well as several other European cities, dropped out of the election.
Apart from Belgrade, the capitals of Croatia and Northern Macedonia will not be the Green Capital of Europe for 2023, because they also dropped out of the finals of this election.
As a reminder, so far only Ljubljana has had this title among the cities of the former SFRY.
