Basta DISSATISFIED with privatization and bankruptcies

Economy Minister Rade Basta has said that Serbia has recorded progress in reforms in the economic sphere, but that he is not satisfied with the way the privatisation and bankruptcy process is going, and that more work is necessary on transparency and online auctions.

Basta said at a meeting with the Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission, Donal McGettigan, that Serbia had unequivocally recorded progress in areas such as corporate governance and state-owned public enterprises, and development financing, the ministry said in a statement.

He pointed out that Serbia and the IMF had been developing partnership and cooperation to their mutual satisfaction for many years, adding that Serbia would continue to pursue responsible economic policy in order to keep the economy stable.

„Serbia is on the path to membership in the European Union and every day it is making great effort to achieve visible results in the transformation and development of the economy, infrastructure and improving the business environment and the quality of life of citizens,“ Basta said.
