All construction sites in Belgrade are operational, the highest number of permits in 2020 issued in March
While having a guest appearance at „Jutarnji program“, aired on „Happy“ TV station, the Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic said that construction permits for a total of 330,348 square meters were issued in Belgrade in the first three months of this year. „For years the city of Belgrade has been issuing building permits for over one million square metres. In the first three months of this year, construction permits were issued for 330,348 square meters. As an interesting fact, the highest number of permits in this year was issued in March, as many as 111 location permits and soon the 23rd construction permit for a total of 147,841 square metres. This means that, besides the curfew imposed by state authorities, most construction is taking place in March. The fact that in March last year permits for just below 60,000 square meters were issued brings additional satisfaction, as this clearly shows how much more is being built,” Vesic said. He added that all construction sites in Belgrade are operational and this is important for the time coming after the curfew. „In the aftermath of the curfew, we will struggle to restore economic activity and it will be easier if construction is now taking place. Each dinar invested in construction is converted to three dinars in gross domestic product. All projects funded by the city are completed regardless of the curfew. The Patriarch Paul’s Boulevard is being constructed, the Sava Square, the Woodrow Wilson Boulevard, a new bus station, the Sava Quay, and in the coming weeks we will start building access roads around the new bus station, as well as an urban pocket on the corner of George Washington, Palmoticeva and Hilandarska street,“ Vesic said.
