Acquisition of Axel Springer’s shares in Serbia and five other countries completed
The media company Ringier has stated that, after receiving approval from national competition protection authorities, it completed the acquisition of Axel Springer’s shares in Serbia, Hungary, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which was announced in July last year.
The transaction represents another step forward in Ringier’s strategy of international growth and investment in the domain of digital market and media brands, the statement reads.
Holding companies in Hungary, Serbia and Slovakia will now operate under the Ringier brand, and about 90 local media (print and digital) and 20 classified websites will retain their existing brands.
As a reminder, in Serbia, Ringier owns, among others, the daily newspaper Blic and the portal Blic.rs, as well as the real estate platform Nekretnine.rs.
In 2020, about 6,800 employees of this company, which operates in 18 different countries, generated revenue of 953.7 million Swiss francs.
