A new scam by a travel agency?

The National Association of Travel Agencies of Serbia – YUTA has warned that the travel agency „Magdalena travel“ is not a member of this association, that it does not have YUTA travel guarantee, and it has not arranged YUTA arbitration with this association.

According to statement, within its regular activities related to monitoring of the work of travel agencies, YUTA has determined that the website of the agency „Magdalena travel“, www.magdalenatravel.rs, contains posted travel programs as offers by travel agencies that are trip organizers, but there are no contracts with those trip organizers, mandatory according to the Law on Tourism, thus potential tourists are being misled.

„Also, by having an insight in general travel conditions of the same agency published on the official presentation, we have identified misleading information for tourists in the Article no. 17, where arranged YUTA arbitration is mentioned, as well as in the Article 12 that refers to travel guarantee, where it is stipulated that agency has YUTA travel guarantee,“ the statement said.

Officials of the YUTA association emphasize that they have been informed about this case from a larger number of trip organizers.

„Magdalena travel“ has appeared in public at the beginning of this year, when media wrote that agency’s offices are located in premises of former tourist agency S.A.B Travel, which lost its licence last summer after it conned more than 6,000 passengers.
