New reality: We will have to SAVE MONEY and expect MORE EXPENSIVE ELECTRICITY

Minister of Mining and Energy, Zorana Mihajlovic, has said that it is realistic to expect an increase in the price of electricity for households, because it is currently the lowest in Europe.

„Regarding the price of electricity, aside from the fact that we have the lowest price in Europe, lower than the surrounding countries, the fact is that in the past year, coal increased in price, and so did oil and all the components for electricity production, and this price is not realistic,“ said Mihajlovic, as a guest of RTS TV, her office stated.

According to her, the new price must be aligned with all the parameters and be sustainable for Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) and for the state and the citizens,“ because EPS must emerge from the crisis on its feet and not on its knees, because it is the most important company in the country“.

„The Ministry supports EPS, we think that the requests for an increase are realistic. This money will certainly not be used for salaries, as some media report, but for solving problems that are caused by high prices on the market,“ Mihajlovic said.
