    5G Network in Serbia by 2020

    Telekom presented the possibilities of the 5th generation mobile network (5G) in Belgrade.

    Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic said that this technology will enable many new services that would make life easier for the citizens.

    Ljajic said that the possibilities of the 5G technology’s application in industry and economy are unlimited in terms of automation in production and that it would enable the creation of new jobs.

    “This type of technology will generate two million new jobs in Europe and 22 million worldwide, and revenues from that will amount to 113 billion euros by 2025 in 28 EU countries, according to forecasts,” Ljajic said.

    According to him, the plan is to introduce the 5G network in Serbia, first along highways and in big cities, but that the prerequisite for its introduction is the sale of of the vacant part of the frequency spectrum after the completion of digitalization.
