„Unemployment is the lowest in history, I will request an increase in the minimum wage and pensions“

President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, has stated that from Monday, for the first time, Serbia will record the unemployment rate below 7.5 percent in the second quarter, which, as he stated, is the lowest in history.

According to him, for the first time, unemployment will be so low, below 7.5 percent, because state aid measures were designed and produced, according to the IMF, a great effect, as they were valid only for those who did not lay off workers, which is why many companies registered their employees.

„At the same time, there are 55,000 newly unemployed people in Croatia due to the coronavirus,“ Vucic said on Pink TV.

As he says, in economic terms the state is doing well, and „we do not need anyone to give us a loan, we can take it ourselves on the international financial markets under the most favourable terms.“

„I can tell pensioners that not only will their pensions be preserved, but there will also be an increase in pensions, which will not be insignificant,“ the President of Serbia announced. We adopted the Swiss model and had minimum inflation, so there will be money to increase pensions, he added.

„We will ask for an increase in the minimum wage in order to reduce the difference between the rich and the poor,“ Vucic said regarding the negotiations on the minimum wage.
