„The Koridori company and Security Intelligence Agency are investigating, and the costs will be paid by the contractors“

Construction Minister Zorana Mihajlovic said today that it was not surprising that she requested information about the collapse of the support wall on Corridor 10 from the Security Intelligence Agency, because she had also asked for such information in the previous period, since these were big infrastructural projects. She added that the cost would be paid by the contractors.

„This is not the first time that side slopes are collapsing, and so far, the Koridori Srbije company and I have said that a contractor is certainly partly responsible, but it is not the only responsible party,“ Mihajlovic said at a press conference, answering the question of whether the Spanish construction company Azvi, which is in charge of that section, is responsible for the collapse.

Mihajlovic rejected media claims that this is the third collapse of the same part of the section on Corridor 10.

„This is not the collapse of the same part of the section. This is not true, this is the most difficult section within Corridor 10 and it contains two of the hardest slopes, with one of them having a 45-degree slope,“ the minister said.

When asked why it had not been discovered who was responsible for the previous collapses on Corridor 10, Mihajlovic said that „we should wait.“

„We did our best, we asked Koridori Srbije and the Security Intelligence Agency to investigate everything, we just have to wait for a complete investigation… we are talking about a 2010 project, every document is reviewed, we will certainly find out who is responsible and the Corridor will be finished,“ said Mihajlovic.

She stressed that the costs would be paid by the contractor, but that the state would lose because of the extension of the deadlines.

„First, good reputation costs and we have lost our good reputation. Secondly, all the costs are covered by the contractors, but certainly this extends the agony, and that costs, because the deadlines are extended,“ Mihajlovic said, adding that „it is not disputable that this section of Corridor 10 is very difficult.“
