Serbian Minister of Environmental Protection Goran Trivan has stated that adoption of the Law on Climate Change is planned by the middle of this year, which should establish a system for mitigation of climate change and adaptation to changes in climate, in accordance with obligations in the process of accession to the EU and obligations according to the UN Convention.

„The first National Strategy for Combating Climate Change, including the Action Plan, will also be created this year, thus establishment of strategic and political framework of the battle against climate change, i.e. low-carbon development in economically cost-profitable manner, in line with the EU policies in the field of climate change and obligations towards the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, has commenced,“ he has said at the 13th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean, being held in Belgrade.

As he has added, priority measures for decrease in greenhouse gas emission by 2030 and 2050 will be identified within the Strategy, the Ministry of Environmental Protection has announced.
