Restaurants „exceed“ inflation, salads rise in price most
Hospitality services in December last year were 16.9 percent higher than in December 2021, according to the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.
Food itself rose in price by 16.9 percent, while salads rose in price by 20 percent, hot and cold appetizers by 19.5 percent, cakes by 18.4 percent, and ready meals by 12.3 percent.
When it comes to drinks, alcoholic drinks went up by 14.6 percent, and non-alcoholic drinks by 15 percent. There was an increase of 20.4% regarding overnight stays.
Hospitality services in Vojvodina are more expensive than the national average, more precisely by 20.2 percent, with food rising by 24.5 percent, alcoholic beverages by 15 percent, and non-alcoholic beverages by 19.3 percent, while the lowest increase of 6.5 percent was recorded in overnight stays.
According to the official data from November 2022, the annual inflation rate in Serbia is 15.1 percent, which is lower than the increase in the price of hospitality services.
