Mali reveals: This is EXACT DATE of beginning of metro construction

The works on the construction of the Belgrade metro will begin on November 22 at Makisko polje, announced Minister of Finance, Sinisa Mali.

After signing a contractual agreement with the Chinese company Power China on the infrastructure construction project and the backfilling of the plateau for the metro depot at Makisko polje, Minister Mali said that the construction of the first metro line (from Makisko polje to Mirijevo) officially started with the signing of that document.

On Monday, November 22, at Makisko polje, you will see a large number of workers, we are starting to realize the dream that generations before us dreamed, said Mali.

The first line will be ready by 2028

Minister of Construction, Tomislav Momirovic, who signed the contract with the representatives of the Chinese company, said that this was a great day for Belgrade and Serbia, because after more than 50 years of empty talk, the realization of the project for the construction of the Belgrade Metro was beginning.

He announced that the first line would be completed in 2028, and the other one in 2030.

Momirovic noted that the signing of the first contract was preceded by serious preparation, considering that the projects of metro construction were very difficult and expensive.

“No city the size of Belgrade can develop without the metro, if we want to improve traffic and the ecological prospects of Belgrade, we must build the metro”, said the Minister of Construction.
