Mali presents plan: By 2026, average salary to be EUR 1,000, and pension EUR 500

Minister of Finance of Serbia, Sinisa Mali, has said that the Government is committed to improving the living standard of citizens and that the plan is for the average salary in our country to be 1,000 euros and the average pension 500 euros by the end of the next government’s term in 2026.

Mali mentioned that since January 1 this year, salaries in the public sector had been increased by 7 to 8 percent, pensions according to the Swiss formula by 5.5 percent, and the minimum labour cost by 9.2 percent.

He pointed out that salaries were growing every year, and „when we consider GDP, one element is consumption and we want citizens to live as well as possible, which means that salaries and pensions must grow, because when consumption rises, so does GDP.

At the same time, never have more funds been invested in capital investments, because that drives the construction and other industries and, of course, GDP,“ Mali pointed out, adding that the third element was the difference between import and export.
