Exclusively for BIZLife magazine: Binod Chaudhary, the first Nepalese billionaire

Binod Chaudhary is a businessman, philanthropist, and the first Nepalese billionaire, who received attention from domestic media at the end of last year, when his company CG Corp Global opened its first facility in Europe, in Ruma, Serbia –  CG Foods Europe.

Even then, Chaudhary announced that there is a possibility of further investment in Serbia, and our first question was on that topic exactly.

‘For starters, we are considering several possibilities in hospitality, trade in consumer goods and the banking sector. We are anticipating numeral offers, as well as the investment mandates of your Government. As you might have guessed, this is a new market for us, so a detailed feasibility study is necessary’, said Binod Chaudhary, exclusively for BIZLife magazine.

You emphasized that one the main reasons you came to Serbia is the people here. You have provided many words of praise for our character and work ethics. How different and similar are we to Nepalese people, when it comes to work ethics?

There are many similarities between Serbia and Nepal, in the sense of geography, diversity, and most importantly, the Serbian people are very hard-working, honest and loyal, as are the people of Nepal. Both countries are experiencing a transition and are going through enormous changes.

Regardless of the hardship in Serbia, your country is reaching new heights in progress. The people of this country and its leadership did not allow to for a vacuum to be created during the process of transformation of the state, and the transition began to flow smoothly, so that Serbia would sooner or later become a member of the EU. By contrast, Nepal has just ended a huge political transition. Finally, after 25 years, we managed to create a structured management model at the local, state and central levels. Nepal need time to catch up to Serbia, although Nepalese are equally as optimistic, and the country itself is full of good opportunities, although there is no exit to the sea.
