EPS „survives“ 2022: Fewer losses than planned

The public company Elektroprivreda Srbije ended 2022 with a net loss after taxation of RSD 73.7 billion. The plan envisioned a loss of 97.7 billion dinars, according to the EPS report.

It is pointed out that EPS had a negative net result of RSD 79.5 billion at the end of the third quarter, so in the fourth quarter it achieved a positive financial result of RSD 5.8 billion.

„A better financial result than planned is the result of lower external procurement of electricity than planned and a drop in electricity prices on the market, especially in the last quarter, as well as lower costs of procurement of external coal,“ EPS said.

Over the last year, EPS generated revenues of RSD 363.4 billion, of which RSD 358 billion were revenues from the sale of products and services, while the revenues from the sale of electricity alone were RSD 353.5 billion.

In a year, EPS produced 31,127 GWh of electricity, which is two percent less than the plan, and eight percent less than in 2021. The reasons for such a result are, according to EPS, a big and prolonged drought in the Danube and Drina basins, and a lack of available coal from the Kolubara mine.

EPS’ expenditures in 2022 amounted to RSD 419.7 billion, including the cost of RSD 117.3 billion for the procurement of electricity.
