Direktna Banka GIVES UP ON Komercijalna Banka

Direktna Banka, which was considered one of the favourites in the privatization of Komercijalna Banka, has abandoned the purchase, not having submitted a non-binding offer.

„Direktna Banka did not submit a non-binding offer and it thus withdrew from the procedure. Direktna Banka continues its development by expanding its product and service offer, as well as by expanding its customer and client base,“ the bank says in a response to a query from the Danas daily.

According to the previous information, one of the letters of interest for a majority stake in Komercijalna Banka owned by the state was also sent by the consortium consisting of the domestic bank Direktna Banka, the US investment fund Ripplewood Advisors and Greek Eurobank operating in Serbia.

The public considered the consortium as one of the favourites in the race for the capital ‘prey’ that controls nearly 11 percent of the market, with the assets of around EUR 3.5 billion and retail clients’ savings of more than EUR 2 billion.

According to the previous unofficial information, some of the candidates for Komercijalna Banka are Raiffeisen Bank, NLB Bank, AIK Bank and Apollo Investment Fund. After the opening of the binding offers, the Ministry of Finance will determine who has qualified for the next step, which is the submission of binding offers, which should take place by mid-November.
