Ceremonial opening of the second Serbian Insurance Days in Arandjelovac

The second Serbian Insurance Days have been ceremoniously opened in Arandjelovac, gathering more than 300 representatives of insurance companies, state officials, as well as domestic, regional and experts from abroad. The conference is organized by the Serbian Association of Insurers.

Around six million insurance contracts were signed in Serbia during previous year, and premium per capita was EUR112.

“Insurance industry in the country invests significant funds in development of social community via sponsorships and donations, and it employs more than 10,800 people,” President of the Managerial Board at the Serbian Association of Insurers Mirko Petrovic says.

The main topics of the first day of Serbian Insurance Days were catastrophic damages in Serbia presentation of possible solutions for their management, as well as insurance in agriculture – challenges and solutions.

Only eight to ten percent of registered farmers in Serbia have an insurance policy, and according to General Secretary of the Serbian Association of Insurers Dusko Jovanovic, that number needs to be higher.

“We must help every farmer to insure his crops, tractors and agricultural machinery. That is why we plan to enable free insurance policy for the farmers, in agreement with local self-governments. Storms, rain and snow have major influence on Serbian households, and farmers need to have insurance in order to avoid catastrophic damage created by bad weather conditions,” Dusko Jovanovic says.
