Air Serbia will be landing at terminal 1 of JFK airport in New York as of june 3

Starting from 3 June, Air Serbia will be using Terminal 1 at the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York for landing and takeoffs, instead of Terminal 4, where the aircraft of the Serbian national airline are currently landing. Only international arrivals and departures are carried out at Terminal 1, so Air Serbia will be sharing the new terminal with the biggest airlines from the entire world.

After the planned reconstruction, which also represents the greatest capital project in the history of the New York airport, Terminal 1 will become the most spacious and the most modern terminal on the JFK Airport. With 23 new gates, the upgraded terminal will be four times bigger than the existing one, and will include the area of the current Terminals 1 and 2 and former Terminal 3, and will offer numerous benefits to passengers.

“We are proud to join the home of all main international airlines. Our passengers will be able to enjoy more space and smaller crowds, and in the near future, once the reconstruction is finished, Terminal 1 will be the most luxurious one in the whole of New York and the surrounding area,” said George Petković, VP Americas, Air Serbia.

Air Serbia started informing passengers about the change in terminals through all communication channels – SMS messages, the website and the official social media accounts.

The national airline currently operates two flights to New York each week, on Thursdays and Saturdays, with plans to increase their frequency once the pandemic situation stabilizes. Even during the unfavorable circumstances in the global aviation industry, Air Serbia reported good results during the previous year, and with 67% on Terminal 4 of the highest-traffic New York airport, it found itself first in terms of passenger load factor on flights to the Big Apple in September 2020.

The direct air connection between Serbia and the United States has been established with a historic flight to New York on 23 June 2016, after a pause of almost a quarter of a century. Belgrade-New York flights are operated by the biggest aircraft in the Air Serbia fleet, Airbus A330, named after legendary Serbian scientist and inventor Nikola Tesla.
