A WEIGHT OF THEIR MIND: Fiat to stay in Kragujevac for a long time

Fiat stays in Kragujevac and there will be no layoffs, and by the end of the year production of 500L will be in accordance with the „operational plan“, i.e. will be adjusted to demand on a monthly basis, President of FCA’s Independent Trade Union in Kragujevac Zoran Markovic said.

He received that information at the meeting of representatives of FCA’s trade union in Kragujevac with management of the company led by director Silvia Vernetti, held in Belgrade.

“This ended speculations about the alleged departure of Fiat from Kragujevac. As employees’ representatives we have been officially informed that the company Fiat will continue to do business in Kragujevac,” Markovic stated with “Beta” agency.

Markovic said that they did not talk about conditions under which FCA will do business in Serbia in the future, because this, as expected, will be a topic of conversation with representatives of state that owns a 33% stake in the company.

Managers did not talk with representatives of trade union about a possible new vehicle model that would be produced in Kragujevac.

“We believe that Fiat will continue to do business in Kragujevac for a long, long time, and we hope that we will have new models of vehicles as well“, Markovic said, stipulating after the meeting that this is a “weight off his mind.”
