WHO approves RNA vaccine production in Serbia
The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved Serbia’s access to the technology for the production of RNA vaccines.
Access to the technology for the production of RNA vaccines has been given to Serbia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Indonesia and Vietnam, said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
RNA vaccines include Pfizer, Moderna, but also vaccines against other diseases.
WHO Director for Serbia and the Region Fabio Scano congratulated Serbia, adding that it had the opportunity to establish the new RNA technology, which would enable the production of vaccines and other biotherapeutic agents in the future.
„Serbia – so far the first and only country in the WHO European Region selected for the transfer of mRNA technology – has a great responsibility based on its experience and knowledge,“ Scano said.
