A payment revolution: Employees to receive salaries during weekend as well
Employers in Serbia will be able to pay salaries to its employees on non-working days as well, even at night, and citizens will immediately have money on their accounts.
A new “instant” payment system that enables this will begin on Monday, October 22nd.
Citizens will be able to raise money with bank tellers or on ATMs immediately, and banks are obliged to enable them access to funds 24 hours a day, throughout the entire year. Instant payment will be possible by phone as well, for all citizens who, for example, want to pay their bills in stores this way.
Expenses will be lower when compared to credit card payments, as banks are charging commission each time card is swiped through the terminal.
As stipulated by the NBS, instant payments represent a true revolution in the payment world, bearing in mind that they will enable transfer of funds from one account to another in a 24-hour regime, seven days a week throughout the entire year, and user will have those funds immediately at his/her disposal.
This means that person who is intended to receive funds will have them on the account in a matter of seconds and person who pays will receive confirmation that payment is processed and funds are approved.
