Our suggestion for your escape from city life (PHOTO)

The Avala Mountain is situated at around 17 kilometres from Belgrade. Some malicious people contest that it is even a mountain, with a height of 511 metres. However, those eager to escape from grey city façades and enjoy nature do not pay attention to such comments. It is ideal for short weekend relaxation, walking, family gatherings, socialization, etc.

It would be best to travel by car, and if you do not have one be prepared for more than an hour drive by city transport. Many buses go towards the Avala Mountain from “Trosarina”, and line 400 will take you to the very top and tourist attractions – tower and the Monument to the Unknown Hero.

Linguists say that the name of the mountain originates from the Ottoman word „havaleli“ which can mean either something huge, big or bearish, or can describe someone who is tall and dominates the environment.

Following NATO bombing, rebuilt tower and Mestrovic’s famous Monument to the Unknown Hero are ideal places to observe country that you live in, from a real perspective, see everything that it offers, as view is breathtaking.

Entrance to the tower will cost you RSD300.

This summer is marked by periods of rain followed by sunny weather. If you have not travelled to the sea, and you do not want to speed the weekend at home, watching movies, series and reading books, grab the first available opportunity and start your “conquest” of the Avala Mountain.
