Nis based airport “grew” by 16%
A total of 174,118 passengers were accommodated at Nis based airport “Konstantin Veliki” in the first half of this year, which is 16 percent more when compared to the same period last year, Spokeswoman of Nis based airport Ivanka Stanisavljevic has stated with “Beta” agency.
„Bearing in mind the existing growth dynamics in number of passengers, as well as commencement of flights from Nis to Vienna as of November 15th, realistic expectations are that number of passengers will exceed 400,000 this year, which would be a new airport record,” Stanisavljevic has said. .
She has reminded that the airport „Konstantin Veliki“ served just over 331,000 passengers last year.
In the first six months of this year 15 cargo airplanes were also flying from Nis based airport, transporting 350 tons of goods.
Last year Nis based airport was the destination for 85 cargo airplanes that transported 2,500 tons of goods.
Ten days ago Assembly of the City of Nis adopted decision to transfer property and managerial rights of the airport “Konstantin Veliki” to the Republic of Serbia, but it is unknown at this time when state will actually take over the management.
