Chinese interested in development of 5G network in Serbia

China’s leading companies are interested in participating in the development of 5G network in Serbia, the Minister of Cyberspace Administration of China, Zhuang Rongwen stated in Belgrade. Chinese Minister said that at the meeting with the Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Rasim Ljajic. Ljajic’s ministry announced that Rongwen highlighted China’s readiness for the assistance in development of the digital economy as well, so that Serbia can become leader in that field in Southeast Europe. The first project of such kind will be implementation of the „smart cities“ program in Nis next year, and later in other major towns in Serbia. Ljajic expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation, stating that one of the most visible results is installation of the optical cable network of „Telekom Srbija“, in cooperation with the Chinese company Huawei, which will enable 750,000 households in Serbia to receive the fastest possible Internet access.
