Will batteries or e-cars be made in Loznica?
The Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated that her Government and Rio Tinto together plan to seek a potential strategic partner that would open a plant for the production of electric batteries or electric cars in Loznica. During the visit to this company in Loznica, which is working on the „Jadar“ project for exploration of the Jadarite ore (with lithium mineral), Brnabic said that this third partner would use lithium and everything else from Rio Tinto’s chemical facility as a basis for a further, final product , which should boost the „overall Serbian economy“. Brnabic said that Serbia is likely to expect three very important events, and the first deal is an agreement with Rio Tinto to relocate its laboratories to Serbia and all complex analyses they are conducting at their facility at a research centre in Australia. The commencement of construction of the plant can be expected by the end of 2021, Brnabic said, also stating that finding a partner for the construction of a final products plant is one of the important events.
