Trade Union: “Illegal employment” at VMA
The Military Trade Union of Serbia has announced that number of people at “Vojnomedicinska akademija” is hired based on Temporary and Casual Employment Contract, specifying that these are medical technicians and nurses, but provisions of the Labour Law are not being respected and enforced.
These contracts, Trade Union has explained, are concluded for six months, after which a new contract is concluded and compensation for work is less than the legally guaranteed minimum wage, and certain work hours are not even paid.
The Trade Union has also pointed to the problem of paying contributions, because “practice shows that person who worked for a year realizes nine months of pensionable service.”
„We point out that labour contracts of those people expired in August 2018, and they continued to work based on ongoing practice even after the contract expiration, thus they are practically under illegal employment,” Trade Union has emphasized.
