BELIEVE IT OR NOT: Srbijagas is the most successful public company
Last year, public enterprises had a total net profit of 23.7 billion dinars, with Srbijagas being the leader with the profit worth more than half of this amount, the Blic daily found out in the Ministry of Economy.
Thus, out of 37 public enterprises founded by Serbia, 31 public enterprises had positive financial result in 2017, while six public enterprises had a negative net result, i.e. deficit in the budget.
Last year, on the list of the most successful public enterprises, PE Srbijagas is by far the leader, with 16.7 billion dinars of profit.
Just ten days ago, director of Srbijagas, Dusan Bajatovic, confirmed in a statement for the Blic daily that Srbijagas was taking a loan for gas procurement and that a tender for a loan of 30 million euros was announced. He also pointed out that the company was not yet financially strong enough to provide the necessary quantities of energy products without a loan.
In terms of successfulness, Srbijagas is followed by EPS with almost three times lower profit, RSD 6.4 billion, followed by Jugoimport SDPR, which had RSD 3.1 billion of net profit, EMS with RSD 3 billion and Posta Srbije, which generated RSD 2.2 billion of profit.
