SURROGACY, here’s the COST

The future Civil Codewill, nevertheless, allow surrogacy, under a moderate reward, and a woman whocarries and gives birth to a child for someone else will be called „asurrogate mother“, reports the Politika daily. Surrogate mothers will beentitled to reimbursement of expenses during pregnancy and childbirth, as wellas to a reward, but this reward will be moderate – from 8,000 to 15,000 euros,says the commission for the preparation of the preliminary draft of the CivilCode. Thus, women from Serbia will no longer have to go to Ukraine, wherecontracts are signed with surrogate-mothers worth 30,000 to 40,000 euros, or tothe USA, where the price of such a „service“ reaches as much asUS$100,000, said Prof. Dr Miodrag Orlic, Acting Chairman of the PreliminaryDrafting Commission. The Code stipulates a number of possible situations thatcan be resolved through a contract between three women, and when it comes tothe child’s father, as a rule, he will be a husband or partner of the motheror, as the law says, the intended mother. The two of them will be „intended parents“.
