No electricity price increase for businesses until end of August

The Government of Serbia has recommended to Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) to keep the current prices of 75 euros per megawatt hour for commercial buyers and 97.50 euros for backup supply until August 31 this year.

At the session, the Government adopted the Fiscal Strategy for 2023 with projections for 2024 and 2025, which ensures the achievement of the basic goals of the Government in defining economic and fiscal policy and balancing the macroeconomic and fiscal position of the state, given the scale of the health and economic crisis caused by the coronavirus in 2020 and 2021, the Government announced.

Bearing in mind the drastic increase in electricity prices on mercantile exchanges in the last few months, the Government of Serbia adopted the Conclusion recommending to Elektroprivreda Srbije to provide backup electricity supply to end customers who are not entitled to a guaranteed supply in the period from July 1 to August 31, 2022 at the price of 97.50 euros per megawatt hour, excluding VAT, in order not to jeopardize the business and economic environment in Serbia.

Furthermore, in order to protect the market, the economy and the security of citizens, the Government of Serbia decided that in the same period, from July 1 to August 31, 2022, the price of electricity for customers on the commercial market would be 75 euros/MWh excluding VAT. The recommended prices are the same as those adopted at the end of last year, with a validity period until June 30.
