This year’s agriculture export at the level of 2017
Minister of Agriculture Branislav Nedimovic has stated today that export of agricultural and food products in this year will be at last year’s level, when goods in total value of EUR3.9 billion were exported.
Nedimovic has said at the panel on food safety that next year will be better for export abroad because „we have plenty of goods for export, both primary as well as final products, thus sales will be higher than this year.“
According to him, Serbia has the potential to reach the food export of EUR5 billion in the short term, but also a space to additionally increase this figure.
Nedimovic believes that investments in agriculture and food industry will increase, following adoption of amendments to the Law on Investments, which allow a sectoral approach.
„State will use special financial resources to help those types of food industry where there is a demand on both domestic and foreign market, i.e. food processing sector, sectors of vegetables, beef and sheep meat and cereals,“ Nedimovic has said.
He has pointed out that this development will also be based on finding new markets for goods from Serbia.
„We need markets that are capable of paying for products, but not too distant so that profit would not be lost on transport expenses. These are primarily markets of the Middle East and North Africa,” minister has said.
