Tabakovic: Reduction of inflation in the last quarter of the year
The Governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), Jorgovanka Tabakovic, stated that the central bank sticks to its evaluation that inflation will decrease in the coming period.
According to her, it is not however realistic that it will happen before the last quarter of this year.
„The announced electricity price increase is in line with our estimates and is included in them,“ Tabakovic stated with the „Politika“ daily newspaper.
She added that both key inflationary risks that the NBS pointed to in recent months – the agricultural season and the duration of the conflict in Ukraine – have come true.
„The drought will certainly have a negative impact on food prices on the domestic market, while the additional escalation of the conflict in Ukraine has already resulted in an additional increase in already extremely high prices of energy-generating products,“ said Tabakovic.
