SCC: Info Centres save time and money for businessmen

As of January 1, in the regional centres of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, businessmen will be able to get, in a few minutes, a full assessment of the technical regulations that apply to their product.

Businessmen will be able to obtain complete information and advice on the necessary standards for products, processes and systems of operation on the domestic and foreign markets in the regional centres of the SCC – Novi Sad, Subotica, Zajecar, Valjevo, Nis and Kragujevac.

The info-centres in which trained individuals will provide businessmen with the consulting services about the standards were formed in the regional chambers of commerce in cooperation with the Institute for Standardization and the Ministry of Economy, with the support of GIZ.

Businessmen will be able not only to search, but also to read and review the full versions of the applicable Serbian standards. Practice has shown that for entrepreneurs and representatives of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, when exporting or negotiating a new deal, the questions such as „have you applied a particular standard“ or „have you marked the products with a mark of compliance“ pose a true barrier.

The answer to these questions, as well as complete information on business standards available in info centres in six cities in Serbia, will ease doing business for businessmen who could formerly obtain the texts of the standards only in the Institute for Standardization in Belgrade.

It is also important to point out the Portal of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce on the CE mark, the technical regulations on compliance and all the other regulations important for a particular product, says the head of the Department for Environmental Protection, Technical Regulations, Quality and Social Responsibility of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, Dusan Stokic.
