More than 200,000 applications for tourist vouchers

Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matic has said that by July 7, more than 160,000 people had applied for tourist vouchers worth RSD 15,000 and more than 45,000 of them for vouchers worth RSD 10,000.

In relation to the rise in the prices in the tourist-hospitality sector, she told the Alo newspaper that citizens expected a „minimum of understanding“ for the economic situation they were in.

The law established the free formation of prices of hospitality services according to market conditions, but it should be borne in mind that tourists saved the two most difficult tourist seasons during the pandemic and helped the tourist and hospitality sectors survive, Matic said.

She recalled that the Government of Serbia, due to great interest and lack of accommodation capacities, extended the deadline for the use of vouchers until November 30.
