Freelancers stand up for TAX REDUCTION: „Do Not Destroy IT“

A statement from the Tax Administration requesting self-initiated sending of tax returns for income from abroad has encouraged the Association for the Protection of Constitutionality and Legality to launch an online petition „Do Not Destroy IT„.

They are addressing Minister of Finance, Sinisa Mali, with the petition.

As stated in the text of the petition, the IT area represents the greatest potential of Serbia, as the fastest growing branch and one of the few sectors that record growth even during the COVID-19 pandemic.

„Many countries provide this industry with incentives and subsidies to contribute to innovation. In Serbia, the relations are reduced to excessive taxation, stumbling the IT sector and chasing away IT jobs, while subsidies and the money of Serbian citizens are forwarded to foreign companies. In the age of the Internet, people are being offered a bright future of cable winding,“ they say.

If they collect 10,000 online signatures, the legal and economic team of the Association for the Protection of Constitutionality and Legality will make a comparative analysis of the taxation of the IT sector. If they reach the goal of 15,000 signatures, they will start a media campaign, and with 20,000 signatures they will form a negotiating team, together with the signatories to the petition.

As they state, „it depends on us whether the fastest growing sector, which is synonymous with independence and success, will allow itself to be enslaved.“

So far, they have collected 1,166 signatures in just under 24 hours.
