FIRE in Vinca is localized, Mayor gives INCREDIBLE recommendation
The Ministry of the Interior (MUP) has announced that „thanks to the quick and timely reaction of the members of the Sector for Emergency Situations, the spread of the fire at the Vinca landfill, which threatened to engulf bushes and the surrounding area, was prevented.“
Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, stated earlier that the fire in Vinca was reported last night at 8.30 pm, and that it was expected that the extinguishing of the fire would last for days, and that during all that time, citizens would be able to see smoke from the landfill.
Several civic associations and environmental movements requested from the authorities at the city and national level to present precise data on pollution caused by the fire in Vinca, which they described as a „toxic incident“, as well as to declare a state of emergency in Belgrade.
Mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojicic, said that the recommendations of the experts of the Public Health Institute were that citizens, as long as they could smell smoke, should close their windows and not go outside unnecessarily, as well as that the fire was under control and that there was no danger that it would spread.
