ALIMS: In Serbia, no case of DISPUTABLE REACTION to AstraZeneca vaccine

The Medicines and Medical Devices Agency of Serbia (ALIMS) has announced that there is no reason to stop or in any way limit the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine in Serbia.

According to the data available to this national regulatory body, no cases of embolic and thrombotic adverse reactions to AstraZeneca have been reported to the Agency so far in Serbia.

According to a statement on the ALIMS website, the Agency is aware of and carefully monitors the situation in other countries and at the EU level, but it also monitors the recommendations of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) which speak in favor of continuing vaccination.

As it is stated, by March 17, 2021, a total of 74 cases of adverse reactions to AstraZeneca (COVISHIELD) vaccine against COVID-19 had been reported.

„Of the total number of reported cases, 16 were medically confirmed and reported by healthcare professionals, while 58 cases were reported by patients. The largest number of adverse reactions reported are expected reactions following the administration of any COVID-19 vaccine, and they are related to local reactions such as pain, swelling and redness at the injection site, followed by systemic reactions such as fever, muscle pain, joint pain, chills, weakness, headache and nausea.

„We emphasize that no cases of embolic and thrombotic adverse events have been reported to the agency so far to the AstraZeneca (COVISHIELD) vaccine against COVID-19 on the territory of the Republic of Serbia,“ ALIMS claims.
