Price of gas in Serbia WILL NOT BE CHANGED, at least until New Year
The jump in gas prices on the world market will not affect the change in the price of gas in Serbia, because there is a long-term contract with Gazprom, said the special advisor to the Minister of Mining and Energy, Petar Stanojevic.
The rise in gas prices is the result of low temperatures during March and April, accidents in gas storage facilities in Russia and delays in the construction of the Nord Stream, Stanojevic said.
„European warehouses were empty due to the winter that lasted longer, and the accident in Russia affected the reduction of deliveries. The quantities of gas were not sufficient and the price went up from USD 220 to 580 per thousand cubic meters, but that will not affect the price of this energy source in Serbia, because there is a ten-year contract with Gazprom that is valid until the end of this year“ Stanojevic said for Prva TV , the ministry has communicated.
Stanojevic explained that the price of gas depends on the geopolitical situation, which dictates the movements on the European and world markets, and that the formation of the price for next year in Serbia will depend on Srbijagas’ negotiations with Gazprom, adding that gas prices on the world market are expected to decline in October.
