Vucic: In the first quarter, 340,000 doses of vaccine, if they DO NOT REDUCE the number

In the next two or three days, 5,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine will arrive in Serbia, said President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announcing that the first to be vaccinated will be those older than 75 who live in retirement homes.

Answering reporters’ questions before the opening of the covid hospital in Krusevac, Vucic said that that was not enough.

„In the first quarter, we expect 340,000 more doses, if they do not reduce that number as they have now reduced it from 10,000 to 5,000 doses,“ said Vucic.

He said that he believed that European Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi, would help Serbia get the vaccine as soon as possible, instead of the postponement of the procurement.

Vucic said that vaccination was of great importance because it was also a question of the economy, and someone „should pay the salaries for 671 newly hired medical workers“.

He added that the Russian vaccine Sputnik was still in the testing phase and that it had been well evaluated so far, that both the Chinese and American vaccines were also expected and that Serbia would procure all of them.
