
Ten Serbian companies on the Top 500 in CEE list
Among the top 500 companies in Central and Eastern Europe in 2017, there are ten Serbian companies. The list was published by the international credit insurance company Coface. The basis for ranking is turnover, the number of employees, the framework of companies and the market. The results show that in 2017, the region’s GDP grew by 4.5 percent, which is the highest level in the past eight years.
JP Elektroprivreda Srbije is ranked 66th, as the most successful Serbian company, the next one, ranked 80th, is Naftna industrija Srbije, and the third most successful domestic company is Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), ranked 211th. Delhaize Serbia is ranked 251st and Mercator S is ranked 269th.
Telekom Srbija is ranked 282nd, while Smederevo-based steel producer, which operates under the name of HBIS Group, is ranked 313th. Among the top 500 most successful companies, there are three more Serbian companies: Nelt (315), Srbijagas (362) and Pirot-based Tigar (386).
Poland has by far the most companies on the list, with as many as six companies among top ten, while the list also includes companies from the Baltic states, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania.
„The CEE region’s economy continues to grow; in 2017, the companies supported the macroeconomic environment, with the average GDP growth rate rising to its highest level in the past eight years to 4.5 percent, after 3.1 percent in 2016 and 3.7 percent in 2015,“ said Coface’s CEO for CEE, Declan Daly.
