Oil companies in Serbia will have operational reserves as of July 1

As of July 1, all oil companies in Serbia that distribute petroleum products on the market will have to have operational reserves – and this year they will be at the level of four days, said Secretary General of the Association of Oil Companies of Serbia, Tomislav Micovic.

He explained to RTS TV that from July 1, all companies that distributed petroleum products on the market, manufacturers and importers, a total of about 10 companies, would have the obligation to have petroleum products in their stock at any time at their own expense, at the level of four days of their average sales in the previous three years.

“Year after year, this number of days will increase and we will come at some point to ten days, which is quite a large stock,” he said.

He pointed out that each oil company would have to invest money from its capital in these reserves, which raised the costs of placing fuel on the market.

Asked if the oil companies were ready for this, Micovic said that it was not a problem to find storage space for these four days, but when it came to the period of ten days, they would have to invest in storage space, primarily big importers.
